Luke Bennett is an Operations Administrator for Omnis Investments, Openwork’s fund management business. This year he is running his first marathon, the Virgin Money London Marathon, to raise money for The Openwork Foundation.
So, we asked Luke one simple question, “Why?”
“Why do I want to run? And run a marathon for that matter?
Your first answer is “probably because you’re an idiot” (or maybe stronger words). Well the truth is, I am doing this as a purely selfless act because I want to raise money and awareness for The Openwork Foundation.
Helping others is also a massive part of who I am as a person and I think if you have the opportunity to make a difference you should.
The Foundation is a great charitable organisation and it has been a real pleasure getting to know the people behind the scenes who have changed the lives of so many – Sam, Debbie, Lisa (and more) you are what Openwork stand for and are a real inspiration for my run.
I watched the London Marathon for the first time in 2019. The energy and support people gave for one another was just incredible - it was honestly like nothing I had seen before, you had people cheering on strangers and following them along the roadside to give them that motivation to keep going - which I loved!
All in all, I think the aims of the event itself and the Foundation go hand in hand in bringing people together to help others who need support in their lives in some shape or form.”
