Omnis Income & Growth Fund changes manager

Omnis Investments Limited our specialist asset management company with £6.9bn under management, has appointed Jupiter Asset Management as manager of our £317m Omnis Income & Growth Fund.

Jupiter, which already manages Omnis’s Emerging Markets and European Equity funds, was appointed after a competitive selection process and replaces Woodford Investment Management.

The Omnis Income & Growth Fund will be managed by Ben Whitmore, who joined Jupiter in 2006 and is currently Head of Strategy, Value Equities, with a mandate to maximise value through a demonstrably active investment approach capable of delivering outperformance over the medium to long-term.

The decision to select a new Investment Manager was made in May as part of Omnis’s focus on delivering the best outcomes for clients and the advisers that serve them.

Our Wealth and Platform Director, Mike Morrow, said: “We have the utmost confidence in the Omnis Income & Growth Fund value-driven mandate and in Jupiter’s ability to manage the portfolio in the best interests of clients and advisers.”

Omnis funds are designed to sit within diversified portfolios and its use of segregated fund mandates enables advisers and their clients to benefit from a diversified blended fund approach. They provide a range of portfolios which have no exposure to the Omnis Income & Growth Fund should advisers and their clients wish to consider alternative options for their investments.

Jupiter CIO Stephen Pearson commented: “We are very pleased to have been selected by Omnis Investments to manage this portfolio. In Ben Whitmore, Omnis has selected an experienced fund manager who has clearly demonstrated an ability to deliver returns for clients over the long term.

“In managing the portfolio, Ben will draw on the deep experience of the wider team, in particular fellow Jupiter UK portfolio manager Richard Curling, who has over 30 years’ experience investing in smaller and mid-cap companies. Richard will thoroughly analyse and manage the fund’s small and illiquid holdings and, over time, bring this element of the portfolio in line with Ben’s strategy.

“Omnis has been a valued client since we first took on a mandate for them over five years ago. At a time when it is crucially important to maintain investor confidence in active management, we look forward to working closely with them to help deliver the best outcomes for their clients and the advisers that serve them.”.

We will be providing regular updates to advisers and their clients to ensure they are kept fully informed.
